Jan Beger is the Global Head of AI Advocacy at GE HealthCare and Executive Director of HelloAI, based in Germany. For over 20 years he has worked at the intersection of healthcare and AI, translating what the technology can actually do into language clinicians understand and strategy executives can act on. He’s a published author, international keynote speaker, and one of the more followed voices on healthcare AI on LinkedIn (89,000+ followers).
His talks cover AI adoption in healthcare and why it stalls, the future of clinical workflows and the clinician workforce, the human-AI relationship in medicine, AI fluency for healthcare professionals, and honest assessments of what AI can and cannot do in a clinical setting. He’s a realist, not a hype merchant. His core view: AI in healthcare works when it reduces clinician burden, increases efficiency, and restores the human connection between caregiver and patient, not when it’s deployed to tick a digital transformation box. He’s argued consistently that the barrier to AI adoption is not technical, it’s human: fear, inertia, and a conversation dominated by engineers rather than clinicians. His 2025 opinion piece in European Journal of Radiology Artificial Intelligence is titled “Rethinking trust in the age of medical AI.” One of his signature lines: “Healthcare needs AI because it needs the human touch.”
HelloAI is an AI fluency program built specifically for healthcare professionals, the clinicians, nurses, and administrators who need to understand AI without being overwhelmed by jargon or patronized by engineers. Jan is Executive Director. The program (helloaiprofessional.com) has reached 7,000+ participants across 70+ countries. The premise is simple: you don’t need a PhD in computer science to have an informed opinion about AI in your own field. You just need someone willing to explain it honestly.
Nearly 13 years at GE HealthCare, currently as Global Head of AI Advocacy. Before that, Senior Director Digital Ecosystem EMEA, Founder and Head of the Edison Accelerator (an AI startup acceleration program), Managing Director GE HealthCare Information Technologies, and various clinical applications and digital roles across Europe. He also founded GR4AI Academy, a non-profit teaching children about AI’s societal impact. Jan has published in European Journal of Radiology AI, contributed chapters to multiple healthcare AI books, and appeared in podcasts and interviews across English and German-speaking media.
